Duck Tales Intro
I had a best friend who lived 2 houses away from me all throughout my childhood. In fact, we are still friends to this day. He and I spent our afternoons getting in to trouble right as school was let out. We would generally have a set routine. We would first hit the neighborhood streets hard on our bikes, hopping curbs, kicking over garbage cans, trying to impress Ashley Briggs, etc. After that, we would climb his huge tree and try and convince his dad to build us a treehouse. If it was Autumn, we would pile the fallen leaves at the base of the tree so we could make high altitude jumps from the tree. If it was winter, we would pile up snow at the base of the tree. This way we could make higher, more dangerous jumps. This would usually lead to snow fort building and by night fall, we would strategically hit passing cars with snow balls. The fort provided excellent cover to hide from angry dads of all kinds. The common thread of our activities, warm or cold outside, were the late afternoon slow downs as we watched Duck Tales and Tale Spin. We later decided that our obsession with jumping out of his tree into piles of leaves or snow came from Scrooge McDuck’s daily swim in his money vault. After our cartoon session, I usually had to go home to dinner. After dinner, We would be back at it. That is what Duck Tales is to me.
